Privacy Policy for Nature App
Last updated: June 17, 2026
AppMaker Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") operates Nature App (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.
By using Nature App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you create an account or sign in, we collect information associated with your account, such as your display name, username, email address, profile photo, and an optional bio. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from that provider, such as your name, email address, and profile photo. If you use Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address instead. You can also use the App as an anonymous guest, in which case we do not collect this profile information.
We also collect the content you choose to create or submit, including photos, videos, captions, habitat and creature category labels, comments, replies, and any reports or appeals you send us.
Automatically Collected Information
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including device type, operating system, app version, and how you interact with the App (for example, which videos you view, how long you watch, and which posts you like, save, or share). We may also process your IP address temporarily to operate the service and protect it from abuse, such as rate limiting.
Camera, Microphone, and Photos
With your permission, the App accesses your camera and microphone so you can capture nature photos and videos to post, and your photo library so you can select existing photos and videos to upload. These are accessed only when you use the relevant feature, and only with your permission, which you can change at any time in your device settings.
2. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App and understand how it is used. Each processes information in accordance with its own privacy policy:
- Authentication: Firebase Authentication (Google) verifies your sign-in with Google, Apple, or as a guest. Google Privacy Policy
- Hosting, storage, and content delivery: Cloudflare hosts our services, stores uploaded media, and delivers content. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Database: Neon hosts our application database. Neon Privacy Policy
- Media processing: Modal processes uploaded photos and videos into the formats the App streams. Modal Privacy Policy
- Product analytics: PostHog helps us understand aggregated, de-identified usage so we can improve the App's features and performance. PostHog Privacy Policy
- Error monitoring: Sentry helps us diagnose crashes and technical errors. Sentry Privacy Policy
Before sending data to our analytics and error-monitoring providers, we remove or mask sensitive fields such as authentication tokens and contact details. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the App
- Provide core features such as your feed, profiles, following, likes, saves, and sharing
- Personalize the content and recommendations you see
- Understand how users interact with the App's features
- Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs
- Moderate content and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines
- Communicate with you, if you have contacted us or created an account
- Comply with legal obligations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not share your personal information except in the following circumstances:
- Content you choose to make public, along with your public profile information (such as your username, display name, and avatar), is visible to other users and may appear on shareable web links to your posts or profile
- With service providers (such as the providers listed in Section 2) who help us operate the App, under confidentiality obligations
- If required by law, regulation, or legal process
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided to you
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide the App's features and fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information: your profile details are cleared, your account is unlinked from your sign-in identity, and your engagement records are disassociated from you. Posts you created are removed from public view. We may retain limited de-identified or aggregated information, and records we are required to keep for legal, security, or moderation purposes.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data. You can exercise many of these directly in the App (for example, by editing your profile or deleting your account), or by contacting us using the information in Section 9.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion.
You can control the App's access to your camera, microphone, and photo library at any time in your device settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Nature App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy, and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
